The number of patients is also increasing due to the rapid spread of the corona virus. The death toll from corona-infected patients has also risen.
Mumbai: The country is witnessing a shortage of corona. The number of patients is also increasing due to the rapid spread of the corona virus. The death toll from corona-infected patients has also risen. Therefore, vaccines are being preferred to prevent coronavirus. However, stocks of the vaccine are declining. So there is a readiness to speed up vaccination. The government is working on a new scheme to speed up vaccination. Under this, some more public and private companies may be allowed to manufacture indigenous vaccine COVAXIN. This is being discussed at a high level. A group of scientists is also in favor of vaccination. An announcement could be made soon if all goes well. In addition to oxygen, the country also lacks vaccines.
The government has the rights
According to Hindustan, under the existing patent law, the central government has the power to allow other companies to manufacture drugs or vaccines in case of emergency public health, so as to increase its availability. Based on that, the government may allow some other companies to manufacture vaccines.
Vaccination campaign top priority
Sources say the government is giving top priority to speeding up the vaccination campaign. In such a scenario, immediate increase in indigenous vaccine production may be the only option. For this, the government may allow some more public and private pharmaceutical companies to make vaccines by issuing mandatory licenses. The demand for vaccines is very high after the vaccination campaign of 18+ people, but the supply is not accordingly. This demand cannot be met due to low vaccine production.
Order large quantities of vaccines
The government has ordered Rs 11 crore to Serum Institute and Rs 5 crore to Covishield of Bharat Biotech for the next dose of covacin to be supplied in May, June and July. However, even if this supply is timely, it will not be possible to continue vaccination for three months at present. The government wants to speed up vaccination. So the government is considering another option. There are now 20-25 lakh vaccinations per day.
Production will take time
The report said that some time ago, the government had announced the production of Kovisin in three more state-owned companies under Mission Covid Security. These include Bibcol in UP, IIL in Hyderabad and Hopkin Biopharmaceuticals in Mumbai. There are three government companies. Which will take time to start production. This product is jointly developed by covacin ICMR and Bharat Biotech.
