Now the United Nations has come forward and helped. Several United Nations agencies have sent about 10,000 oxygen concentrators to India to combat the covid-19 epidemic. One crore medical masks have also been sent.

“The United Nations is cooperating with both national and local governments to address the plight of India,” Stephen Dujarric, a spokesman for UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, told a news conference on Thursday.
The United Nations has 10,000 oxygen concentrators
He said UNICEF, the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) have provided about 10,000 oxygen concentrators, 10 million medical masks and more than 15 million face shields. The United Nations has also purchased ventilators and oxygen production plants.
UNICEF is also providing a cold chain device to hold the Covid-19 vaccine. “Our team has provided thermal scanners along with test machines and kits,” he said.

UNICEF and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) are helping monitor more than 175,000 vaccination centers in India. According to the WHO, 46 per cent of the world’s corona virus cases are in India and 25 per cent of the world’s epidemic deaths last week were in India.
