Strict lockdown till May 15 in ‘Ya’ district in the state now

Mumbai / Sangli: The state government has decided to implement ‘Break the Chain’ restrictions in the state by May 15, 2021. Strict lockdown will be observed in Sangli district till May 15. After that, according to the role of the state government, the next decision regarding the district will be taken after considering the opinion of all the people’s representatives in the district, stated the Guardian Minister Jayant Patil. Guardian Minister Jayant Patil reviewed the current situation of Covid-19 at the Collectorate. He was talking at the time. Patil reviewed the growing number of patients in the district, availability of beds, availability of ventilators, vaccinations, implementation of lockdown etc.

The people’s representatives unanimously demanded that more ventilators be added. Speaking on the occasion, Guardian Minister Jayant Patil said that the availability of ventilator beds should be made available to the call center immediately and there should be strict coordination between the systems so that ventilator beds are available to the patients. The district will get an additional 30 ventilators in two days and another 20 to 25 ventilators have been requested from the state government. Apart from this, the district should procure ventilators as per the requirements. “People’s lives are more important than the procurement process, so the lives of citizens are the top priority,” he said, adding that the immediate purchase of ventilators should be completed.

While reviewing the vaccination, Jayant Patil said that 5 lakh 98 thousand 386 citizens have been vaccinated in the district so far. The first dose is 5 lakh 17 thousand 92 and the second dose is 80 thousand 794 people. Those who have taken the first dose should be given the second dose within the prescribed time. We will try our best to get the required dose of vaccination, he said.

He directed that as many doses as are available should be called for vaccination and crowds should be avoided to avoid congestion for vaccination. Expressing satisfaction over the strict implementation of lockdown restrictions, Guardian Minister Jayant Patil said that at present, more than 6,000 corona tests are being conducted in the district every day and about 30 per cent of them are positive. Therefore, strict lockdown will be observed in the district till May 15 as per the role of the state to break the chain of corona.

Considering the manpower needs in the health system, recruitment has been going on since April and so far more than 500 posts including 84 medical officers, 360 staff nurses, 159 vaccinators, 32 data entry operators, 16 lab technicians have been recruited. The recruitment process is still going on as required.

After reviewing the vehicles, 102 Primary Health Center Ambulances, 108 Ambulances and Ambulances from Rural Hospitals and Sub-District Hospitals were reviewed and plans were afoot to make one such cardiac ambulance available in each taluka in the near future.
