- Bollywood actor Salman Khan, born as Abdul Rashid Salim Salman Khan on 27 December 1965, began his Bollywood career with a supporting role in the multi-starrer film Biwi Ho To Aisi in 1988, in which his voice was dubbed by someone else! It was his second Bollywood film Maine Pyar Kiya which shot him to fame. He also won a Filmfare for Best Debut in this Rajshri film.
Salman Khan is the eldest son of screenwriter Salim Khan and his first wife Salma. Salman Khan began his acting career with a supporting role in the film Biwi Ho To Aisi.Salman Khan became an instant rage after his romantic act in ‘Maine Pyaar Kiya’.Since then he has done severalsuccesseful films like Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Tere Naam, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, No Entry , Partner, Wanted and Dabangg.Till now he has appeared in more than 80 Hindi films. Salman Khan is often tagged as Bollywood’s brat for a number of controversies and love affairs. His relationship with actress Aishwarya Rai was a well publicised topic in the Indian media. He quite often gets into legal trouble and had gone to jail for rash and negligent driving and for hunting an endangered species, the Chinkara.Despite all the controversies to his name, the moody hunk has a huge fan following.On April 5, 2018 a Jodhpur-based trial court held actor Salman Khan guilty in his 1998 black buck case where he was found guilty of killing two blackbucks. The actor was convicted with an imprisonment of 5 years and fined with a penalty of Rs 10,000 for the same.
In addition to his acting career, Khan is a television presenter and promotes humanitarian causes through his charity, Being Human Foundation Khan’s off-screen life is marred by controversy and legal troubles. In 2015 he was convicted of culpable homicide for a negligent driving case in which he ran over five people with his car, killing one, but his conviction was set aside on appeal.On 5 April 2018, Khan was convicted in a blackbuck poaching case and sentenced to five years imprisonment He is currently out on bail while an appeal is being heard.
His hits films in early 90s – Baaghi, Patthar Ke Phool and Sanam Bewafa. In 1994, Hum Aapke Hain Kaun, earning over rs 135 crore, became one of the biggest Bollywood hits ever. Salman has been very successful in Television also as the host of reality show Bigg Boss. Salman Khan associated himself with the show since its fourth season. As a host, the heavyweight star stole the limelight and helped Bigg Boss top the TRP chart.

Salman Khan is lovingly called Sallu bhai in the film industry and he is a known philanthropist. The actor has also been involved in several charities during his career. He started his own NGO called Being Human which sells T-shirts and other products online and in stores. Portion of the sales goes to a worthy cause supporting the underprivileged.

Khan made his acting debut with the 1988 film Biwi Ho To Aisi, which saw him play a supporting role. He went on to play the leading role in Sooraj R. Barjatya‘s romantic family drama Maine Pyar Kiya (1989), which become one of the highest-grossing Indian films at the time It earned him his first nomination for the Best Actor at Filmfare along with a nomination for Best Male Debut at the same ceremony; the latter was awarded to Barjatya Maine Pyar Kiya was dubbed in English as When Love Calls, in Spanish as Te Amo, and in Telugu as Prema Paavuraalu
Production

In 2011, he launched his own production company called SKBH Productions (Salman Khan Being Human Productions). Money generated from film productions will be donated to the Being Human organisation. The first film made under the banner was the kids’ entertainer Chillar Party, which went on to win 3 National Awards for Best Children’s film, Best Original Screenplay and Child Artist’s Award His latest release is Jai Ho which has till now earned over Rs 100 crore at the Box Office.
