Rains bring relief to Mumbaikars; Warning of heavy rains in ‘these’ districts

After two days of rain and haze, now Mumbaikars gave a little

Mumbai: Mumbaikars were devastated by the first rains. Due to two days of rain, many low lying areas including Mumbai and Thane were flooded. Mumbaikars have been greatly relieved as the rains have taken a toll today. The reason behind this was that the Indian Meteorological Department had forecast heavy rains in Mumbai today.

The meteorological department has changed the red alert in Mumbai to the orange alert. So now the citizens have got some relief. There will be no torrential rains in Mumbai today but torrential or moderate rains. However, the red alert will remain in Raigad and Ratnagiri districts of Konkan division.

On the other hand, western, central Maharashtra, Vidarbha, Marathwada and northern Maharashtra are also forecast to receive moderate to heavy rains in some places. Rain with thunderstorms is expected in some districts of Vidarbha.

Mumbai is currently experiencing light showers or open showers. The meteorological department has forecast torrential rains in Mumbai today and tomorrow. Therefore, the meteorological department has appealed to get out of the house only if necessary.

It has been raining profusely in Navi Mumbai since this morning. It is raining moderately and lightly from time to time. The night had taken a break from the rain. Then it started raining again in the morning. However, the meteorological department’s forecast of torrential rains in Raigad district seems to be somewhat wrong.

The picture is that the rains have stopped in Alibag Pen Murud taluka along with Mahad Poladpur in South Raigad. Orange alert has been issued for Mumbai today while Raigad, Palghar and Ratnagiri are still on red alert. Extreme levels of rainfall are also expected in Sindhudurg, Thane and Palghar.
