The decision was announced shortly after a meeting of a high-level committee chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The country is facing a major crisis in the second wave of the Corona. Vaccination is currently being done in India with two vaccines, Kovacin and Kovishield. Both of these vaccines are made domestically. Apart from that, India has also approved emergency use of Russia’s Sputnik V vaccine. Therefore, about 20 crore doses of this vaccine will be prepared in Hyderabad. This is the third emergency meeting on corona convened by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the last three days, while the central government has been accused of ignoring corona deployments.

The growing number of corona patients in the country and the lack of facilities available to them has created a major crisis in the country in the last few days. Lack of oxygen and remediation caused the lives of the patients to hang in the balance. Some hospitals have even died due to lack of oxygen. In such a scenario, the government’s waiver of customs duty is likely to bring some relief by increasing the availability of oxygen and vaccines.
