For the registration of vehicles, now their owners will not have to make rounds of different offices to get the nominee’s name registered in the registration certificate. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has amended the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989.
According to this, now people will get the facility to make a nominee while buying a car or bike. After making the nominee in the registration certificate, it will be registered or transferred in the name of the nominee after the death of the owner.
Documents related to the nominee’s identity will have to be submitted

According to the notification issued by the ministry, the car owner will have to submit documents related to the identity of the nominee.
Authority to be notified within three months
According to the notification issued by the ministry, if the nominee gets the car after the owner, he will have to inform the registering authority within three months. With this, the nominee will have to apply by filling Form 31 within three months of the death of the owner of the vehicle. Under this, the nominee will have to apply for transfer of ownership in his own name.
However, the death of the owner of the vehicle must be given to the authority within 30 days and the use of the vehicle itself will have to be given. The vehicle owner can also change the nominee in case of divorce or property sharing.
