The question of 12 governor-appointed seats is on the table again
When will the Mumbai High Court make these appointments directly to the Governor?

, Mumbai: The hopes of 12 people in the state who are waiting for appointment on the Legislative Council have been dashed. Although the state government sent names for 12 MLA-appointed seats seven months ago, the governor has not yet approved it. In this case, the Governor has been asked when the Mumbai High Court will make these appointments.

After the Mahavikas Aghadi government came to power, 12 Governor-appointed seats in the Legislative Council became vacant in June 2020. Due to the ongoing struggle of the state government with the governor on various issues and also due to corona, the state government did not send these 12 names to the governor immediately. Six months after the vacancy, on November 6, 2020, the Mahavikas Aghadi government sent a proposal for 12 governor-appointed posts to the governor for approval. Mahavikas Aghadi claimed that the list was submitted after going through all the legal procedures.

Urmila Matondkar, Chandrakant Raghuvanshi, Nitin Bangude-Patil, Vijay Karanjkar from Shiv Sena for these 12 seats.
Eknath Khadse, Raju Shetty, Anand Shinde, Yashpal Bhinge from NCP
The Congress includes Sachin Sawant, Rajni Patil, Muzaffar Hussain and Aniruddha Vankar.
These 12 seats which became vacant in June 2020 are still vacant. Earlier, the state government took six months to send the names to the governor. It has been 7 months since then that the governor has not approved these names. Following the filing of a petition in the Mumbai High Court, the court has slammed the governor for delaying the appointments. Leaders of Mahavikas Aghadi criticize the role of the governor as unconstitutional. He also hoped that the governor would make appointments now.

These 12 people have been waiting for their appointment as MLAs on the Legislative Council for 7 months. Now that the court has taken a stand against the governor in this case, the hopes of these 12 people have been dashed.

In the last two years, the Mahavikas Aghadi government has clashed with the governor several times. It is rumored that the appointment of 12 governors is pending due to clashes over various issues. Apart from this, the leaders of Mahavikas Aghadi are also accusing the BJP of putting pressure on the governor not to approve the name. Now that the court has intervened, it is clear what will happen to these appointments.
