Late fee waiver scheme extended by Finance Ministry; Now allowed to apply till this date

The Ministry of Finance has extended the last date for availing the benefit of Late Fee Waiver Scheme through GST to November 30, 2021.

New Delhi: The Finance Ministry has extended the last date for availing the benefit of late fee waiver scheme through GST to November 30, 2021. The scheme was to close on August 31, 2021.

Late Fee Waiver Scheme is related to reduction or rebate in Late Fee for non-submission of Form GSTR-3B for the tax period from July 2017 to 2021. Earlier, the government had reduced or waived the late fee on non-submitted FORM GSTR-3B for the period July 2017 to April 2021 for those who filed returns between June 1 and August 31.

The ministry said that due to various reasons, the government has extended the deadline for filing applications for de-registration till September 30. The last date to apply for de-registration is between March 1 and August 2021.

In addition, the Finance Ministry has extended the deadline for filing GSTR-1, de-registration and applying for use of electronic verification codes.

The ministry said extending the deadline for the late fee waiver scheme and extending the deadline for filing applications for deregistration would benefit a large number of small taxpayers. Which for various reasons could not pay your return on time.
