Mumbai: ATS uncovers terror plot involving ‘human bombs’: ATS has foiled the terror plot of ‘human bombs’. ATS has arrested 2 suspected terrorists in Kakori, Uttar Pradesh. UP’s ADG Prashant Kumar said the terrorists’ plans were extremely dangerous. UP’s Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has arrested two Al Qaeda terrorists from Lucknow. UP ATS has uncovered a major terror plot. The terrorists also found a pressure cooker bomb with a large quantity of explosives. Since then, police and security forces have carried out surgical strikes in many parts of the country.
Surgical strikes across the country
A security alert has been issued across the country following the news of the arrest of terrorists in Lucknow. Large scale search operations are being carried out from Jammu and Kashmir to the rest of the country. Meanwhile, the terrorists’ connections with Bangladesh are evident. Indian security agencies are making rapid progress in the investigation as far as Delhi, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal.
Arrest in UP’s Kanpur: Sources
A large-scale probe is also underway in Kanpur. Following the arrest of two terrorists in Lucknow, two ATS squads immediately raided several areas in Kanpur, including Chakeri, Jajmau, Chamanganj and Begumganj.
During the interrogation of the terrorists, information about their associates in Kanpur was received, followed by a massive interrogation of the militant network. According to sources, a police and ATS team raided Pechbagh in Chamanganj and arrested the suspect.
In addition to the Lucknow Commissionerate area, Hardoi, Sitapur, Barabanki, Unnao and Rae Bareli, several districts in western Uttar Pradesh have been alerted. According to sources, seven people were living in the house raided by the UP ATS and five people have since fled. For the same reason, the ATS issued an alert in the surrounding district.
Suggestions were being received from Pakistan
ADG Prashant Kumar said, “A handler named Omar Halmandi was instructed to carry out terrorist activities in India. Omar Halmandi is carrying out terrorist activities from the Pakistan-Afghanistan border area. Omar Halmandi was recruiting and radicalizing terrorists in India. He established the Al Qaeda module by identifying and recruiting some jihadists in Lucknow. The main activists of this network are Minhaj, Masruddin and Shakeel.
Delhi Police will investigate
The Special Cell team of Delhi Police will also interrogate the arrested terrorists from UP and they will leave for Lucknow in the next two days.
Arrested in Jammu and Kashmir
Also in Jammu and Kashmir, the NIA has arrested five people from four places in Anantnag and one from Srinagar in connection with a terrorist financing case. Attempts to smuggle arms and ammunition in Jammu failed. Meanwhile, the truck driver was arrested and a pistol and some grenades were seized from him.
