In the western suburbs of Mumbai, traffic jams have become a common occurrence. Also, the congestion in the locomotives of the Western Suburban Railway passing through this area is fatal. Meanwhile, two metro routes for the western suburbs will be launched soon. Metro trials will begin on the 31st Mela Metro 2A and Metro 7 routes.

This will be the metro route
Metro 2A Route – Dahisar to DN Nagar
Metro 2A would be a good option on a busy link road
18.589 km route, 17 metro stations
Project cost Rs 6410 crore

Metro 7 route – Dahisar East to Andheri East
This will help reduce traffic congestion on the busy West Expressway,
16.4 km route, 17 metro stations
Project cost Rs 6208 crore

Almost all the metro stations on this route are more than 80 per cent complete and now these metro stations are waiting for the metro. At some places along the route, OHE – overheads wire has been tested to start power supply of 25,000KV capacity. On May 31, Metro 2A’s Dahisar-Kamaraj Nagar and Charkop Depot routes and Metro 7’s Aarey to Dahisar will be tested.
