New Delhi: The IT ministry on Wednesday issued notices to all social media companies asking why they have not yet complied with the rules in the notice sent on February 25. The ministry asked why a competent officer has not been appointed yet. Details of appointments should be sent to the Ministry by this evening.
The ministry said that if you do not consider yourself to be on social media, state the reasons. The Ministry is free to request any additional information as well as take action. The ministry has sought information about the chief compliance officer appointed by the companies under the new social media rules. The IT ministry has been in action mode since Wednesday regarding other rules, including social media inquiries.
The government has asked social media companies to compile details under the new IT rules as soon as possible. It will be considered a social media platform with over 50 lakh registered users in India.
