Mumbai: Cyclone Tauktae is likely to hit Mumbai, the capital of Maharashtra. Therefore, Mumbai Municipal Corporation has decided to stop Corona Vaccination for two days as a precautionary measure. Following the warning, BMC officials have decided to postpone the corona vaccination campaign for the next two days, the municipality said.
The BMC tweeted on Friday that the two-day vaccination had been canceled. Accordingly, the vaccination drive in Mumbai will be postponed till May 15 and 16. Mumbai Additional Municipal Commissioner Suresh Kakani said the precaution was taken against the backdrop of Hurricane ‘Tauktae‘ and it was decided to stop vaccination.
Vaccination of 260 places stopped
There are a total of 260 vaccination centers in Mumbai. On the other hand, the meteorological department has warned that cyclone ‘Tauktae’ could pass very close to Mumbai. So there will be no work on these 260 vaccination centers. These centers will be closed.
Red alert issued
Meanwhile, the low pressure belt formed in the Lakshadweep Sea will become more active and could turn into a cyclone. The hurricane conditions will be between Saturday, May 15 and next Tuesday, May 18. Apart from Gujarat, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg area of Maharashtra will get rain with strong winds.
Cyclone is likely to hit the Gujarat coast. Meanwhile, the meteorological department has forecast heavy rains along with thunderstorms in Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg, creating a low pressure belt in the Lakshadweep sea area. At the same time, the district administration has warned fishermen not to go to sea for fishing as strong winds are likely to blow. Meanwhile, an ‘Orange Alert’ has also been issued.
Thunderstorms are also expected in Ahmednagar, Pune, Kolhapur, Satara, Sangli, Solapur, Beed, Nanded, Latur, Osmanabad, Bhandara, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli and Gondia districts on Friday. Rain is also expected in Konkan on Saturday. Heavy rains are also expected in Raigad district from Saturday.
