Although the number of corona patients is declining in urban areas of Thane district now, the situation has worsened due to increasing number of corona patients in rural areas. The villagers have appealed to the health department of Thane district to take immediate action to bring the situation under control. In the first wave of corona infection last year, not many corona patients were found in Murbad area. In the second wave, however, a large number of patients have been found in some villages of the taluka from the very beginning.
The rate of infection is higher, especially in villages along highways. Saralgaon is a big market in the taluka. Villagers from the surrounding area come there to buy and sell. As it is a village on the highway, people coming and going from Mumbai, Thane, Pune and urban areas also visit the market. Currently, the number of patients in this village has increased.
There is also an atmosphere of fear among the villagers as 14 people from Vadavalli village near Saralgaon have died due to corona in the last one month. The villagers, through members of the Panchayat Samiti, have written to the administration urging them to take immediate preventive measures.
