New Delhi: Railway staff will now work in two shifts. Within hours of taking over as the new Railway Minister in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s cabinet, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw ordered the officers and staff in his office to work in two shifts.
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has taken this decision immediately after taking over the post of Railway Minister. Work in two shifts from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. Currently, this order is only for the officers and employees of the Ministry of Railways. Following the decision of the Railway Minister, the railway staff will now work till 12 midnight. Therefore, the working hours of railway employees will be changed now. There will be times when employees will work in two shifts. The first shift will be from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the second shift from 3 p.m. to 12 p.m.
Vaishnav had said after taking charge of the Railway Ministry that Railways is an important sector from the point of view of Prime Minister Modi. His (Prime Minister Modi’s) vision of looking at railways is to make a difference in people’s lives. Everyone, of course, the common man, farmers, the poor should get the benefit of railways. I will work for that vision, said Vaishnav.
Meanwhile, Vaishnav, a former IAS officer, has been appointed Railway Minister, Communications Minister and Electronics and Information Technology Minister. The Railway Ministry was formerly headed by Piyush Goyal. He has now been given charge of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
